A surprising white wine we love.

Filed under: HomePort Favorites — adam @ 1:31 am

Wine is made to be consumed with food, and the kind of foods that we’re eating today — lighter foods with more complex flavors — need a wine that parallels that complexity.

This from Evolution …

People always joke around with us, asking whether we created this blend on purpose or if we just blended our leftovers and it happened to work. That is where we got the idea of Luck verses Intention that we used on the label.

We’ve created something that appears simple — easy drinking, relaxing — but in reality is quite complex. Creating a proprietary blend like Evolution is a combination of art and science. There’s a wonderful quote by Thomas Edison that success is 90% sweat and 10% luck. If you talk to Russ, our winemaker, he’ll tell you just how difficult it is to make this blend. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s also a little luck in getting just the right combination. The grapes come together and create a flavor greater than the sum of its parts

Susan Sokol Blosser, President of Sokol Blosser Winery, helped conceptualize Evolution wine. "We wanted to make the statement that it’s not a snobby wine," Susan said. "We had a lot of fun designing the label."

Every new bottling has its own subtle and fresh personality. The 9 grapes tie together perfectly, creating a smooth, layered white wine that can hold its own or stand up to just about any food pairing you dare to serve it with. It is extraordinarily food-friendly, from light salads to the hottest fusion-style cuisine. Regarding the question we’re most often asked: ‘Were you trying to do this or did your leftovers happen to work well together?’ We’ll let the success of Evolution speak for itself
